Air Duct Cleaning in Highland Park, Dallas — Thick Dust Lining the Flex Ducts

Before and after air duct cleaning in Highland Park, Dallas: tan dust lining a flex duct, then the same type of duct clean

Bloom Air Duct Cleaning completed an air duct cleaning at a home in Highland Park, Dallas. When the camera went into the ductwork, the inside of the flex ducts was coated in a thick layer of tan dust, packed into every ridge of the duct liner.

What We Found Inside the Ducts

Flex duct has a ribbed inner liner, and each ridge is a small shelf where dust can settle. In this Highland Park home, the dust had built up on those shelves run after run, until the liner looked more like sand than foil. It was the same story in the supply lines we checked, not one bad section. The photo at the top of this page shows one of those runs before and after.

Dust like this does not stay put. Every time the AC or heat runs, air moves across those ridges and carries some of it back into the rooms. That is why homes with loaded ductwork often see dust come back on furniture a day or two after cleaning, and why people with allergies tend to feel it first.

What We Did

Our technician connected a negative-air machine to the system so it pulled air through the ducts toward a HEPA filter. With the registers covered, each line was opened one at a time and the duct walls were worked with rotary brushes and air whips. The loosened dust traveled to the machine instead of into the house.

Here is a second run from the same visit, before and after:

The homeowner got the same photos you see here, taken from inside their own ducts. That is how every Bloom job ends: you see what came out, not just a bill.

Why Highland Park Ductwork Collects So Much Dust

Highland Park is full of older, larger homes that have been updated over the years. Each remodel can push drywall dust and construction debris into open vents, and the ductwork in a bigger house simply has more surface for dust to land on. Mature trees across the neighborhood also add pollen that finds its way into the return side of the system.

None of that means a home is dirty. It means the ductwork has been working for a long time without anyone looking inside. A camera check takes a few minutes and tells you whether a cleaning is worth it. If the ducts are clean, we say so.
